Spring update

A quarter has passed, and we’ve been so busy it’s been hard to stop and look around. The most significant thing that’s happened is that we’ve started to dig into plans to migrate off our aging Content Management System (CMS). When we’re done later this calendar year we’ll have a more reliable system, better workflows and the ability to add enhancements faster and easier.

We also released NJIT’s social media policy and guidelines, and are documenting our social media strategy – it has been in practice for a couple of years but we felt it was time to memorialize our approach and efforts and think ahead to define a future state with goals.

The future looks bright – and we’ll be in touch.

Check out the two design galleries, one each for Architecture and Art + Design. The student work is dazzling, and the presentation isn’t half-bad either! Take a few minutes to see the amazing work that’s being done over in Weston Hall.

The web Jedis have redesigned not one, not two but three Schools for your enjoyment: Newark College of Engineering, the College of Science and Liberal Arts and the College of Computing Science:

As soon as we finsih up some special bits the College of Acrictecture and Design will finish off the Colleges. A big “thank you” to the Web Services team!

Today we experienced a problem that affected many pages on njit.edu. An error condition in our old Content Management System caused a large number of files to be removed, resulting in sporadic errors throughout the site. We’re still looking into what caused this condition but thanks to fast, coordinated activity on the part of the Web Service team and the Core Systems team in IST the impacted files were restored and the site is performing normally.

Special thanks to Ersal Aslam, John Krane, Andy Malato, Andrew Thomas…I hope I didn’t leave anyone out.

The Van Houten Library steps out in style

The Albert Dorman Honors College now sports the new design, and we’re working the the College of Architecture & Design as well as the Van Houten Library to get them “flipped”. The team is cranking it out!
