 The reception is a great place to meet and network with first year and upper level students, as well as faculty and administrators. We will also be giving away 2 iPod nanos and other great prizes. We will also have a pannel discussion to offer tips and advice for surviving your first year here at NJIT.

For first year students, welcome to NJIT! For returning students, welcome back!

The Murray Womens Center Ambassadors were designed to help first year women students get connected with other students around campus, as well as with faculty and administration. Our goal is to make their first year an enjoyable experience though socials and events. I encourage you to get in touch with your ambassador if you have any questions or concerns.

Also, feel free to stop by the Murray Womens Center, located on the second floor of the campus center in room 265. It’s a great place to meet other students, get help with work or even just relax in between classes. Another helpful resource on campus is the Center for Academic and Professional Enrichment (CAPE) which is located in Kupfrian, room 200. CAPE is a good place to go to if you need help with homework or want to study for an exam.

It’s Erin, Right now I’m in Sweden.  I’m here for a study abroad program for the month of June.  It’s exciting and very interesting. Sweden is very different from the states.  I’m taking a International Logistics and Supply Chain Management course, and it feels a lot like NJIT, 90% of the people in the class are engineers.  So still in an International Business School, I’m still a minority as a Business major. I’m looking forward to traveling afterward, and the people seem to be friendly. Things that you would normally find simple like buying food and getting around are much harder when you don’t understand that language of the country.  I will have to write more later on, the class break is up.

My name is Leanne, I am a junior at NJIT studying Mechanical Engineering. I live on campus at NJIT. I am an ambassador for the Murray Center for first year women students.

Upcoming Events for first women students include:

• Madame Toussaid’s Wax Museum trip on Saturday, May 3rd (at 11:30am everyone is meeting at the clock tower and it having lunch at Dallas BBQ, NYC; email IUKPEH@yahoo.com for details)
• Race for a Cure on Sunday, May 4th (Team will meet at 8:00am and participate in a 1.5 mile walk begining at Branch Brook Park; email EMR5@njit.edu for details)
• Stress Relief Day on Wednesday, May 7th from 12 to 4pm in the Murray Center (290 Campus Center)
• Tutoring by the Ambassadors on Wednesday, May 7th from 10 to 5:30pm
